| "Better than Greifenklau though! " I really don't get all the negativity about Greifenklau that I see repeatedly on this forum. I've enjoyed the place and the beer everytime I've been. My only complaint, and it's my fault really, is that I haven't paid attention to the odd opening hours and have made the trek up the hill to find it closed. I went there in May for lunch on my first day. I enjoyed their new dark "kellerbier" and had a really nice lunch mit Spargel and a nice chat with some folks from Hamburg in their lovely little pub on a drizzly day. The service was friendly too. Even their regular helles lager I found very pleasant to drink when I've had it even though I agree it's nothing earth shattering. And what the hell, we've been complaining on various threads about how Bamberg is crowded with tourists nowadays. If you want to get away from it then Greifenklau is not a bad sanctuary. You could do a lot worse. I like poor old Greifenklau. I'm going to make it a point to always visit there at least once a visit. |
