| I echo what the others have said, staffelberg is a particular favourite of mine and the walk from bad staffelstein is quite lovely. Also, the next village from stublang, frauerndorf, has brauerei hetzel which is small and has very odd opening times. I need to check but something like sundays only, 2-5pm. Can't remember the beer being spectacular but nice enough and a wonder its still going. The other side of bad staffelstein is brauerei reblitz in nedensdorf which is good and further west is schleicher in kaltenbrunn. Lichtenfels has brauerei wichert a brief walk away and the wonderful vierzehnheiligen church with the non affiliated brauerei trunk nearby is well worth a visit. It's perfect cycling country in this valley, make sure you catch a glimpse of kloster banz perched high on the western hills opposite vierzehnheilligen. Both are wonderful examples of baroque architecture, the latter designed by balthazar neumann. |
