| Thanks Mark. I can appreciate your views because it's this sort of thing that makes a pub for me, not just the beer. It is sad though that Hoban's, and many other really good pubs in Ireland, are saddled with the problem of just serving Guinness. Believe me, if you lived here, you would get really fed-up of the lousy old stuff - never mind what it's doing to our digest systems! I reckon that the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoon would soon become a favourite because it has most of the characteristics that you list and pretty decent beer. Probably could persuade them to serve some by hand pump if we lived nearby. Fred - you're not going to be too far away from Lisdoonvarna in your forthcoming visit - might be difficult to get to but perhaps worth a try? |
