Snow clearing: More German law Details |

I bet most US cities and communities in winter climate zones have such ordinances. As to your second sentence...I didn't say anything about American society! Mike004 ist ein Engländer. ;) But your second sentence is also the real point: it's not as if the police come around patrolling the sidewalks/pavements in winter. If someone falls and injures themselves(*) on an un-cleared bit of pavement, the responsible party has to pay for damages not covered by insurance. These laws help clarify responsibility. It's just that Germans might have more clearly defined ordinances than Britons. AFA Britons go, does anyone want to send me a box or two of hoppy, low-gravity Mallinson's or Thornbridge beer? I won't be brewing this week with a bad elbow, and das Hausbräu will run perilously short. * AFAIK, "themself" is not proper English. Since "them" is plural, you can't technically, correctly say "themself", only "themselves". Right? At least, this is what TEFL trainees learn from myself...me. |
