Thinking of good dark beers and considering the breweries you mentioned, you might like the dark beers of Brauerei Wichert, Oberwallenstadt; Brauerei Scharpf, Heilgersdorf; Adlerbräu Schmetzer, Michelbach a. d. Lücke; Brauerei Ott, Oberleinleiter. Both breweries of Pottenstein (Hufeisen and Mager) brew superb dark beer, as do Brauerei Alt, Dietzhof and Brauerei Hofmann of Hohenschwärz. Beautiful Brauerei Gradl of Leups is probably very much to your taste; very old fashioned and probably the best of the remaining dark beer breweries. And - of course - Brauerei Fößel of Appendorf! I didn't list the breweries that brew "Bernsteinfarbenes Landbier", like Hetzelsdorfer, Frauendorfer, Nankendorfer,..., as I'd consider that a different style. Cheers, Jürgen |
