The "they" are the people who produced the video you linked to. That this event would be taken seriously by anyone is really beyond me. Some 20 of the 95 styles are "American-style". Guess who'll win that? Many of the other styles are those now popular in the US (i.e., pumpkin beer, chocolate beer, experimental beer, plus at least five barrel-aged beers). Perhaps they should just call it the World Series of Beer.
