Franconian Beer in Hamburg

But if it's *good* southern German food and beer you're after, why list Paulaner, Hofbräu, and Löwenbräu? As a Hamburg native and resident, I can second the recommendation for Pappenheimer Wirtschaft wholeheartedly. Good beers, good food, fair prices (though not Franconian by any stretch, this is still Hamburg!), civilized atmosphere. Although that's no reason not to try some local specialties as well. We're a few hundred kilometers closer to the sea, for a start. That suggests certain possibilities, no?
