| Signs of life at the Witzgall Keller: Friday late afternoon's bike ride from Stiebarlimbach to Eggolsheim (didn't have the energy to bike to either Forchheim Bahnhof or direct home, not yet in proper cycling form) saw the new Pächter couple out there cleaning the tables. Didn't have time to stop and ask when they're going to open, but it's entirely possible that they'll open today, rather than waiting until the traditional 1 May holiday. We plan to bike thither presently, it's supposed to be 30° (86 Yankogrees) and sunny today. If Witzgall's not open, then either Schwarzes Kreuz or Hallerndorfer Dorfkeller, I think. Roppelt's Kellerbier on Thursday and Friday was not as good as it normally is -- Franz says the current batch is too young, but that's what can happen with a sporadic start of the season. Was a bit of butterscotch that's not normal, and which goes along with the beer being too young, I suppose. I may make it back on Monday, at which time I hope to ask about the nasty rumour going around that he's changed something in the dispense sysetm. My suspicion is that he might have used CO2 kegs the first couple of days, since there were hardly any punters, I can't imagine he'd change away from that wonderful 1000 liter/litre/Liter plastic bag tank contraption. Tuesday, weather permitting, will be to the Witzgall Keller. |
