Smithwick's Pale Ale

Forced myself to go to a tourist trap to have one, While it has pale ale in the name I wouldn't be surprised if it was bottom fermented as it was very lager-like in appearance and taste. There was noticeable hop aroma and a decent amount of bitterness (but remember I've been away from California for nearly 3 weeks :) ) but not much else there. Think "Irish Pils" and you wouldn't be far off. Not bas at all for a massed produced product but no good enough to keep me from the local craft beers. (drinking a cask Metalman Pale Ale as I fat finger this on my iPad) Off topic, the best beers this trip (outside of the Porterhouse) have come from 8 Degrees, though Dungarvan and Trouble Brewing have also been good. O'Hara's -- which I have liked in the past have beer huge diacetyl bombs on draft (bottles OK).
