Frankfurt morning departure – what to do?

I might have responded on BA, but I can't remember so I will reply again. I have flown home from Frankfurt many times. Like you, I never felt comfortable with the early morning train from Bamberg to Frankfurt airport, so I usually caught a train from Bamberg after lunch to arrive in Frankfurt between 6 pm and 8 pm. This allowed me time for dinner and a few hours in Frankfurt the night before my flight. Alternatively, I have flown from Nürnberg connecting in Frankfurt. I have taken a train from Bamberg to Nürnberg (connecting via S-Bahn to the airport) or a taxi all the way from Bamberg to Nürnberg airport. This method gave me one final night in Bamberg (though it could have been a night in Nürnberg). I know people who have done your Option 1, but it makes for a stressful morning, IMO. Cheers
