Brauerei Scharpf and Kommunbräu Seßlach |

| Hi Guys, Charly and me used the perfect weather yesterday for a visit of two breweries we haven't been yet. Do you have Kinderüberraschungseier (children surprise eggs) in the U.S.? It's always like opening one of them. You expect something nice, but don't know what's inside. So we decided to visit some breweries south of Coburg, just approx. 50 kms north of Bamberg: Brauerei Scharpf, Heilgersdorf and the Kommunbrauhaus Seßlach. As the red ox was closed, we tried the Kommunbraubier at Gasthaus Reinwand. Both breweries were nice and the beers are very different in style, so you can't compare them. The Kommunbräu produces a unfiltered Hausbräu style beer, whereas Scharpf produces a dark and malty Märzen. The afternoon was brilliant! I'm writing this small report, because this forum is very bamberg focused and sometimes it's not the worst thing, to go to other places, too. You might miss something great! ;-) Jürgen |
