| Hi Fred, Thanks very much for all the information. I think I've come up with my own solution for my first RFA though. Some internet research has revealed that their are three towns between Frankfurt airport and Kreuzberg that may be worth stopping at: Gelnhausen, Steinau & Schluchtern. All seem to have an historic aspect and two of them have castles. One of the obstacles I face is not being as fluent in German as I'd like so I can't read all the information provided on the websites and don't know how to search them to see if the towns host any breweries. Isn't there a large American military base in Schweinfurt? Does anyone have any opinions as to whether or not Schweinfurt would be a good place to stop or, if there is a base there, do so many American servicemen make the locals unfriendly to American tourists? Before anyone gets offended by that question, I was an American serviceman for 8 years and know from experience that some places you go it doesn't matter and some places you it does. |
