I just got back from two weeks in Germany that included a two-day/one-night stop in Bamberg. I wanted to thank all of you and this site for helping me make the most of my precious little time in Bamberg. This is now a must do destination for multiple days. Got into Bamberg about noon on Tuesday the 12th. A very crappy day, lots of rain and clouds. This was also bad because the kellers were all closed. I was able to try the beers from Fässla, Spezial, Schlenkerla, Ambraünasium, Keesman and Wilde Rose (Maisel?). Really wanted to get to Mahr's on the second day but the closed bridges made it a mess and my family was asleep in the car by the time I got near it. An odd thing did happen, I met Chris K. at Spezial. I was having their wonderful Lagerbier in the garten and videotaping the brewers getting the spent grain into containers for the farmers there to pick it up. I guess my GBBF t-shirt tipped him off that I was an English speaking bier lover as well. I was able to get us a quick 10 minute brewery tour which was pretty cool. thanks again all. Rick
