Brewerys in Franconia

Hey thank you both very much for your very helpful replies. So rather than try to plan this trip myself perhaps I'd be better off enlisting whatever expert advice the posters here may be willing to offer. This will more than likely be my buddy's and my last trip to Germany for a while. We've made two previous trips that were both really terrific and since this will be the last I've decided to make it all about the beer so of course we're going to Franconia. Here's what I have tentatively and very loosely scheduled: Fly into Frankfurt and drive directly to Aschaffenburg. Sight see for a bit then drive to Kreuzberg Monastery for a beer. When done at Kreuzburg, drive to Wurzburg and spend the night. From Wurzburg drive to Coburg to see the fortress. After the fortress drive down to Schesslitz and visit breweries/brew pubs. After Schesslitz drive down to Bamberg and spend the night. From Bamberg make daytrips to Bad Staffelstein and Bayreuth then return to Bamberg for the evening. From Bamberg head to Hallerndorf, Neumarkt, Lengenfeld and finally Regensberg. Spend the night in Regensberg. From Regensberg head down to Abensberg then to Ingolstadt and finally Friesing. Spend the night in Freising. We'll stay in Freising for three days and from there make a couple trips into Munich and a few other places before finally flying back to the states from Munich airport. I picked the towns on our itinerary based on the number of breweries in and around each; the idea being it would be easier to sample a bigger variety and not have to travel too much to do so. Of course I'll have to make some changes now that I know Staffelstein doesn't have 10 breweries in town and that some of the other places I had originally selected are in the same boat. I'd very much like to hear suggestions as to where we should consider going. Things to bear in mind are: *This trip is about sampling as many different breweries as possible without having to drive all over Germany. *My friend and I are wheat beer drinkers above all else. We'll try other styles but the Hefe-Weizen is what we really go for. *We prefer picturesque little towns to the larger cities. *Lastly, if anyone can recommend castles that may be in or near any of the towns we finally decide on that would be very helpful as well. We both really go for castles. Just so anyone reading this post isn’t alarmed I’d like to also mention that my buddy and I have a very successful method for drinking and driving while in Germany. Basically we alternate days where one can imbibe to there heart’s content while the other drives and can only drink two or three beers total for the day until of course we return to the town that we’re staying over night in; then all bets are off. Again, thank you all very much for any help or advice. Eric
