Five Rivers Bike Trail

The only bit I've biked is from N-berg to Lauf or Hersbruck. If you get bored after the first day, you know there are much better routes --for beer anyway-- to take around Bamberg, Forchheim, & Ebermannstadt, for example. The possibilities for nice day trips without leaving pavement or at least nicely graveled roads & trails in the fränkischen Schweiz alone are legion. Just checking my map...the route from Bamberg - Pettstadt (ferry!) - Mönschsambach is about 30 fairly level km. Ambitious for one day, yes, but also if you time it right you could return part of the way by bus. (Or cut 6km by training to Strullendorf.) Forchheim - Ebermannstadt - Heiligenstadt - Oberleinleiter...Bamberg - Baunach - Höf - Freudeneck...Ebermannstadt - Oberailsfeld (perhaps a bit of a sretch)...
