I guess that might work but I doubt it. There is fuel/energy costs, the amortization of equipment, salaries, taxes, and it goes on and on. Hop prices have gone up 500% in the last year and the brewing industry is bracing for another round of barley and hop price increases. Barley for sure as demand is up and food shortages will cause a shift in farming priorities...ie: supply vs. demand. Since corn has gotten more expensive due to demand of biofuel there is a greater demand for feed barley in certain markets greater demand = higher price. ToddA |
