I only wish other modern deutsche brewpubs were up to Vogel's caliber! Tell him he's got a fan in Franken--me. We popped into the Steinbach brewpub in Erlangen last weekend for the first time in months (we only bother with the place once in a great while--the beer is expensive and only their monthly rotating special beer is worth trying), and sure enough, they had a Rauchweizen as the January beer. The description on the blackboard was along the lines of "The Rauchverbot doesn't apply to our beer." Was perhaps the best Steinbach beer I've ever had, incidentally.
