I think it's ok for a brewer to call a beer not served directly "vom Zwickelhahn" (assuming "von" is the proper preposition here) a "Zwickelbier" if it was packaged before it had completed its full lagering phase. I.e., if a brewer bottles a "Zwickelbier" at the time at which it could normally be poured and enjoyed at the brewery directly from the lagering tank, without filtering or other industial processing, could rightfully call that bottled beer a "Zwickelbier". My idea is that the beer retains the properties of a Zwickelbier...though of course the beer could continue to lager in the bottle and therefore change. I think it's somewhat analagous to Real Ale and bottle conditioning. |
