Nice! & Rauchverbot

We had been looking forward to the Rauchverbot SO much, that we had not even gone out to eat or to a Kneipe for a couple of weeks before New Year's. We had planned to visit a couple of favorite cafés and Kneipen to celebrate the new clean air on the 1st. And then I got the flu ON New Year's Day. And then just as I got better, SHE got the flu on Saturday! So we STILL didn't go out at all until just yesterday, for the first time, to our favorite casual café here in town (no good beer, but a fine place, and v. good, affordable café food, formerly too smokey) and it was awesome. We'll probably start going out more often now, of course. There is some kind of transition period until mid-February, during which no fines will be imposed for violations, I think. Just read in the paper today that some music pubs are not yet enforcing the ban in town on their own. But otherwise, it's just awesome. Our café was just as busy yesterday as it was before, and we saw a couple of people go stand outside to smoke. Aw, poor, poor babies.
