| Nick, my trip is originating in Switzerland. My daughter is visiting a family near Montreux for 2 weeks. So after I get her there safe and sound I've got 14 days to kill (such a pity!!). I'm travelling entirely by train. First step is the Bernese Oberland for 2 days of hiking using Murren as a base. Then I start working my way towards Bamberg. Oberstdorf is my next stop for 2 days. More hiking and beer of course. Then for the real warm up - 2 days/nights in Munich for some quality beer garten time. Then finally Bamberg. My plan following Bamberg was to travel back to Switzerland (Kandersteg) for more time in the mountains but I'm seriously considering extending my stay in Bamberg a day or two for some more beer touring. The more I find out about Bamberg and the sorrounding region the more appealing it is. I've got a few more weeks to sort it all out. I agree I've got to get the GBGG book. I think I'll order that today. Mark |
