Taking the train and bus to Burg Rabenstein and back could conceivably cost 5 or more hours. It does not appear at all to be convenient. This should be a map/aerial view of Rabenstein. Zoom out to see two bus stops ("Bushaltestelle") with their 'H' symbols to the NW of Rabenstein...the Abzw. Rabenstein is just a bit closer to Rabenstein. http://tinyurl.com/229w9z (If the link's expired, go to www.goyellow.de, click on the "Karte" tab, then enter "Rabenstein" and "Ahorntal" in the two location text boxes.) This should give you an idea of the walk you'll be facing after the 1'47" train/bus ride. From www.diebahn.de, look up a plan from Bamberg (or wherever) to "Abzw. Rabenstein, Waischenfeld". I've been to Burg Rabenstein, and enjoyed the Burg tour, though we didn't watch the falcon show or whatever-it-is. It's worth going to, but not at the expense of 4 hours' train & bus rides. A taxi from Ebermannstadt is another option, but it wouldn't be cheap. Might be a rental car excursion. Or perhaps the Anrufsammeltaxi service...I've yet to explore this option myself. |
