Very useful resource, this has immediately got me thinking. After reading the comments on dodgey quality of St Georgen beers. A while ago I bought a bottle of their kellerbier at "Beers of Europe", it was so good I watched their website awaiting new stocks and then rushed back to buy a case of 20 bottles. At home I tried the first. "???" I wouldn't have said it was the same beer, it was completely clear unlike the beautifully cloudy bottle I had previously and all the balance and complexity of the taste seemed to have vanished??? I am planning my first trip to Bamberg 11-13 August, can't wait to try the Franconian beers on draught. |
