I have a sometime drinking buddy in Bamberg who is a policeman. I don't know what would happen to a tourist, but to a local its a very serious thing: lose your license for up to a year or two, fines up to a couple thousand Euro, etc. etc. I can't believe a tourist would face anything less (and maybe worse since you will leave the country) Another thing, you cannot refuse a blood test -- I've heard stories of people be restrained so blood can be drawn. This is always a "friend of friend" story, so some grains of salt may be necessary :) Also the limit is (in US measure) .05% (.5 in the rest of the world) and over .025% can result in some lesser penalties. You most likely will not be stopped, but if you are the downside can be huge. |
