Munich: The Augustiner-Gaststätte in the Neuhauser Strasse (pedestrian zone, not far away from the Frauenkirche) is a must. A classic Munich beerhall , which has survived the WW II; good choice of beers, quite decent "typical" meals ! Not far away from Augustiner: Andechser am Dom (the Frauenkirche is just around the corner), a mix of a restaurant and a beer-bar, good place to sample the excellent range of Andechs beers.........! The most beautiful beer-garden in the center of town can be found just a few steps away from the central station (Hauptbahnhof: The Augustiner-Garten, a large beergarden with shady chestnut-trees, where the fine "Edelstoff" is tapped from huge wooden barrels; it seems, that this beers tastes really a bit better, if it comes straight from the wooden cask......Don't miss it ! In the suburbs of PERLACH is hidden a small brewery, named Forschungsbrauerei (Unterhachinger Strasse). Their products are admired by beer lovers in the whole world (e.g. Michael Jackson, the beer hunter). They serve the Pilsissimus and the Bock only in 1 litre steins.........Be careful! |
