OT: Half marathons in Franconia

Not me, but I did join das Fitnessstudio (3 s's!) last year and do an hour on the elliptical trainer as often as feasible...not more than once a day though. I would like to run, but am afraid of pain, being now considerably older and heavier than when I ran a bit as a youngster, and even then I suffered from shin splints. Mind you, I took the summer off, hard to justify sweating inside when there's lovely weather outside!
