Monosodiumglutamate, probably not One word in reality. AKA Geschmacksverstärker. Nasty salty stuff they use all too much of over here. Eating out at Asian places in Europe is not easy for ex-Oregonians! Meh, there are a couple of reasonably good Thai places here now though. Still skeptical of their meat sources, so we stick mostly to squid.
