Too many tourists

Three loveliest (and beeriest) small cities in Europe: Bamberg, Bath and Bruges but they all have the tourist problem. Individuals are not the problem but large groups.

Agree in general with you Mark, I do still love Bamberg (J. not so keen) but it was difficult at times to get a beer in Schlenkerla and Mahrs... Yes John, I would be total Schwemme drinker as well but J. finds it difficult standing for longish periods.

I suppose it depends on what you look for in a holiday. I quite like lazing around in the morning, probably something to do with advancing years and, if the weather is good, swimming (wonderful freibad in Eschawo) and walking. Would love to do some of those walks but J. finds it tricky, maybe will be different if she gets a new hip. Also wouldn't mind a few cycle rides on dedicated cycle paths.

We seem to have built up a bit of critical mass of people who have met each other (those who haven't not excluded), so is it worth seriously looking at the possibility of a co-ordinated link up next year - say spring? I know a great our guide - actually, I know a few!

Always the optimist!
