Comparing Bland Beer

Yikes. Augustiner Hell was memorably rampant with off notes when tasted at the keller in 2011. My notes state: "Outrageously lousy aroma of DMS, sulfur/egg, husky malt, metal, old wet hay, and rotten apple. Buried within the putridity lurks a scent of perfumey hops and melon." When was the last time you tried it, Nick? I will be curious to hear your assessment of it when you give it another whirl. I got some soap in DMS in their marginally cleaner Pils. My humble opinions and nothing more. :)
