Suggestions for Christmas/New Year's trip to Bamberg area and info on Brewery closings |

| Hello, I have enjoyed your website and forum for quite a while, but have never posted before. I also got the Beer Drinkers Guide to Bamberg, which is a great resource of information that was very helpful for my trip to Bamberg this past September. I love Bamberg. It's such an amazing city. I am planning another trip to the Bamberg area for the holidays from 12/21 through 1/2 and I am looking for some suggestions of where to go, where to stay, and also some info on any brewery closings for the holiday. I have been to all of the breweries in Bamberg a number of times, albeit not for bockbier season, so I am hoping I may be able to have some bockbier before it's gone. I am also looking to visit some of the other cities listed in the Beer Guide, or anywhere else that is recommended for that time of year, such as perhaps Nurnberg and Rothenburg for the Christmas markets as well. I have only been to Bamberg so far. Should I stay in Bamberg the entire time and take day trips to the other cities, or is there another city in the area worthy of overnite(s) stay as well? Should I rent a car (but no drinking and driving)? Will it be OK to travel by bus that time of year? Any suggestions and info would be appreciated. |
