OT: Cycling in Britain

Only in Yorkshire, where they truly mangle our glorious language and call each other 'love', even man to man! Of course, I do come from the other side of the Pennines. It's not only in the USA where walking across the land is taboo. In my adopted homeland, it is equally difficult. Some friends in Co. Wicklow have been in a law case for ages regarding the right to walk public footpaths which have been closed off by a local landowner and even my most friendly neighbouring farmers object to people walking their lands, unless you are a friend. From my experience, the Germany countryside seems to be very well endowned with cycle paths and walks and you don't actually meet many farming folk in the process of walking.
