Hobby- vs. Hausbrauer

Very interesting discussion, particularly in relation to the situation in Eschawo. For a short summary, I think Jan hit the nail on the head and Norbert's historical survey was most enlightening. As far as I know, there is no one, other than the 'commercial zoiglstub'n' excerising their rights to brew in the kommunbrauerei in Windischeschenbach. However, a group of six (I believe) house-brewers brew once a year in Neuhaus. As reported last year, I had the pleasure of visiting the shared cellar of two of the brewers in Neuhaus and sample their zoigl (very similar to Teicher and I think that H. Punzmann actually does the brewing for them). I met one of the house-brewers on Sunday in Marktplatz in Neuhaus and he invited us to visit him again this year, so hope to do this before we leave. Incidentally, has anyone read either of the two (I think that there are only two) books on zoigl? Both that I have seen are written in German, which is a bit of a challenging proposition for me.
