Beer/brewery walks

Those are three excellent websites (including the blog). Thanks for sharing them. One of the things that I really want to do is spend as much holiday time as I can possibly spare beer keller/brewery walking in Franken. Like you said it is so incredibly beautiful and peaceful. Add to that the phenomenal beer. For me it is as close to heaven as one can get. I set out to do just this last July but sadly the weather didn't cooperate very well. I was hoping to do walk from Pretzfeld to Unterszaunsbach and Hetzeldorf but it rained cats and dogs the day I had set aside for that. I did manage to get a couple of days of beer walking in but the best one, weather-wise, was staying at Hotel Rittmayer in Willersdorf and walking to Roppelt's Keller and the kellers of Kreuzberg. Other walks included Aufsess area and Geisfeld. Unfortunately, despite being a perfectly sunny day in July, it was a bit cold the day I walked around the Geisfeld area and the Griess and Sauer Kellers were both closed. I still managed to stop at the breweries though so it wasn't a total loss but it was torture walking by the Griess Keller and seeing it closed because the temp was a few degrees too low. Still I could see the huge potential of beer walking around Geisfeld. So many kellers, beer gardens, and breweries to visit in one day. The walks planned for Pretzfeld and Burgebrach areas were total washouts. That's the way it goes. I figure I just got to keep trying. Someday when I'm older (when my daughters are done with University) I hope to be able to just take a month off and spend it in Franken. Then I can just wait for good weather and go on the spur of the moment. I've got a couple of books I've used for info on this including the one you mentioned by Hans Carl "Ein neuer Wanderführer für Biertrinker Fränkische Schweiz" also "Biergarten-wanderungen in Franken" by Helmut Herrmann. BTW, I read back through some blog posts on Ron Pattinson's blog about your trip with him last year. Good stuff. I hope you guys will blog about that some more when/if you go again this year. Actually it was from reading that blog many years ago that gave me the inspiration to visit Bamberg and Franconia the first time.
