Schlenkerla Eiche

I certainly won't ever pretend that New Albany is Bamberg, but neither is it Durres in Old Albania. Come to think of it, NA's a lot like Durres without the old Chinese cranes on the waterfront, right down to our non-English local dialect. After 17 years in the good beer biz, I'm still delighted and honored that Eiche's importer brought kegs to our vicinity. We're still a good beer desert, but there are far more points of oasis than ever before. We've also been doing a good trade in Anstich kegs from Franconian breweries, courtesy of Shelton Brothers importers. What we're missing is someone to cook pork right. The Eiche is brilliant, lighter in color than Marzen but as noted, more alcoholic. I'm trying to sort out the difference in smokiness between the oak and beech. I treated my lone half-liter with caution. On Sunday, I hope to be treating it with less caution at Schlenkerla. Yum, yum. This is going to be the finest Christmas ever.
