| Having majored in VGN studies, I suppose that the next task is to study DB. But, given the following, maybe I might not! Anyway, my journey planning from Flughafen Nuernburg to Eschawo has just thrown up an interesting little question: if you go on to the DB site and look for this journey from 16.00 on September 15 (time of flight arrival), you can find that the DB train to Weiden (for connection to OPB) leaves hourly at 43 minutes past the hour. However, the first train that you can buy a Bayern ticket for is the 18.43 and I should be able to get the 17.43 (and, possibly, even the 16.43, but unlikely). As an alternative to the Bayern ticket, DB suggest a Flexpreis ticket but you can only get that on the sectors from Nordostbhf onwards and not from Der Flughafen. In itself, it is not a massive problem because a single sector ticket from Flughafen to Nordostbhf is only just over 1 € but it is a bit inconvenient. All this suggests that (a) you can't use a Bayern ticket on the U-Bahn during the rush hour; and (b) there is something odd about the sector from Flughafen to Nordostbhf because you can't use either a Bayern ticket or a Flexpreis ticket on it. Anyone got any ideas? |
