Ot: end of old English family breweries

What I keep hearing from people in the industry is that the huge increase in number of microbreweries has led to a glut of suppliers. Your Bay Hop is taking advantage of this, just like freehouses are doing up and down the land. So is it that the big breweries' beer is too expensive, or the microbreweries' beer is too cheap?

And Spoons is apparently notorious for paying only up to some low price per barrel. If you want your beer in Spoons (for exposure), you have to sell it there cheap.

Have you had the strongish Dark Side of the Moose mild (4.6% IIRC)? I loved it at the Purple Moose tied house in Harlech when we were there...nearly 7 years ago. I really, really need to get me to the Black Country for some proper mild, I think. I shall take advantage of the direct NUE - BHX flight for this purpose someday.

Tim Taylor's (dark) Mild was one of the highlight beers of my 4+ days in Manchester in January at the lovely Buffet Bar & Refreshment Rooms at Stalybridge station. Even had some black peas with pepper & vinegar with it.
