Have to be careful, a lot of OT talk here, but not much Franken talk from those who are there! Might have to start rehashing some old stuff or being controversial - surely not. Anyway, since you've mentioned them, yes, Dark Side of the Moose a bit back, think it was ok but love their Menai Bitter, which I think you would, as it's only 3.?? something - very tasty. Taylor's (no relation) Landlord used to be fantastic, not had it recently but did have a Boltmaker in Chester a while ago, which was very good. Ditto to the GK IPA, not fantastic but a drinkable session beer and somewhat the way that I remembered IPA from my distant past but not as yeasty - but, then, all the Burton beers were yeasty, even Marston's - Pedigree was a thing of beauty. Had a pint of Doom Bar last Friday, again, ok, without being anything special. But that's the way of a lot of these bigger brewery beers, they pass muster as drinkable beers without being noticable. Not likely to get Sambrook's too much here, as it is a London micro but I could ask Chris. No sign of this beer on their web page. |
