I think that there's a huge difference. Most of the foods named above have probably been introduced into Germany (like they were in the UK) by immigrant communities, whereafter they have gradually become popular among the indigenous population, we might say be popular demand. I can't think of an incident in Britain style where a beer introduced by an immigrant population has become nationally popular. The recent 'craft beer' and IPA crazes are simply that: momentary crazes, who knows whether they will have any lasting effect. |
