I only meant the "ge-" prefixes of the perfect past tense verbs. (Gemacht, gegangen, gebraut...) Not all verbs have them, and I was wondering if this particular feature is something that evolved in the continental Germanic languages after Hengist landed in Thanet. Can you recall enough of old English to say something about that? Eh, never mind, Wiki gives some examples of "ge-" participles in Old English. I didn't mean gendered nouns, cases, or other big-picture grammatical things. |
