To the first question, it's just old programming in my head, I'm sure. Modern malts are so easy to mash, you don't even need to do iodine tests or what-not to see if they've converted, they just do. Weyermann is the epitome of quality malt, at least as the conventional wisdom goes, and so...only the best! Or summat like that. To the second question, I have only used Weyermann malt since I started brewing here. In my previous homebrewing life, TWENTY (!) years ago back in Orygun, I just used whatever the local homebrew supply shop had, I never bought sacks. Here, there are no local homebrew supply shops. But there are local maltings. |
