Schock and Awe [Spalter]

How strong are those IPAs? Over 5.5% and it gets undrinkable for me pretty quickly.

I also thought of calling this an Altbier, but then, it's not really like Altbier, which comes across to me as more dry maltiness than hoppiness. And this is stronger and more bitter. Something like 13.5% Stammwürze / 1.054 OG (IIRC, Stammwürze was listed on the info sheet but not obergärig/untergärig), probably over 5.5% ABV, whereas Altbier is 4.6 - 4.8%. (Cue the crowd that says "big deal" to a 20% increase in ABV.)

I added it to that-website-where-people-give-ratings-to-beers as an amber ale, since it's neither an English nor and American pale ale. (Yes, my translation of their description is ham-fisted; you get what you pay for. And I was posting from the brewpub, so in a hurry.)

Also too bloody expensive (can't remember, probably 3,30 € / 4cl glass, but that's Erlangen. Lovely brewpub to sit in though.
