Hi back - is it my messages re our recent visit to Forchheim that you refer to? If so, which particular Neder stories? I wrote a lot about Hebendanz but about Neder, I think only how much I liked their beer and the ambience of the stube.

But anyway, yes, Neder is closed on Tuesdays. Other days, open from early morning (not sure what time but possibly 9 am?) to around 10 pm at night, though was known to close earlier if there were few customers and an empty cask. To be sure of drinking the fassbier, best not to be there too late.

Sadly, yes, Eichorn closed Tuesday and Wednesday, sorry. But good news, if you walk a few hundred yards (or metres) past Eichorn, you can visit Stube Schlössla, an excellent pub that is the only outlet for Hebendanz vom Fass. Then cross the street, walk to the adjacent traffic lights, cross over and take the first right and come to the stube of Brauerei Greif, cunningly hidden behind stacks of pallets, beer crates, casks and other detritus. Once inside, though, a lovely airy bar, charming service and the full range of Greif beers - so much better here than on the kellerwald.  Good news is that the Stube is open until 10 pm on Wednesdays (also Mondays and Fridays).

You can also drink Huppendorfer Vollbier at Lohlmühle.
