Yobbishness in Manchester

On my roll from Sheff to Manc airport after the CAMRA shindig in April, I did hop off and spend a couple of hours in Stockport. Walked around down to the one great pub under the bridge from the station (not the Robinson's, but the other one, Robinson's isn't really my cuppa) with my backpack and everything. It was a great little visit. If the missus weren't changing companies, she would have the chance to take on projects based in Stockport and Bolton (also visited once) which could involve either frequent travel there or even an extended stay. Alas, the new company (the other of two global sports footwear makers headquartered in Herzogenaurach near here) has offices down on the north side of London. But I hear beer's improving down there as well. I guess I would've figured that Arndale Centre was built after the terrible bombing, didn't know it was otherwise planned. The Micro Bar somewhere in there is worth a look though.
