| I had a real surprise last night - my phone rang and an American voice introduced himself as Uncle Jimbo calling from Schlosshof zoiglstube in Windischeschenbach! Sorry, Jim, it took a few seconds for the reality to sink in. Anyway, Mark Anderson and himself were having a great time and seemed really knocked out by the zoigl, food ('best pork ribs ever' said Mark) and the general atmosphere. They were about to head up to Kack'n in Neuhaus for a little more of the same. Boy, did I feel jealous! No, not really, I was pleased that they had made the trip and felt it worthwhile but I did (and do) feel a little pang of regret that I'm not with them. Planning for next year starts now! On the matter of future visits, J.and myself will be arriving in Bamberg (Hallstadt) on September 3, where we will be staying until September 17. Don & Cherie arrive some days later, like last year, with another party of Yanks, so should be good fun! Anyone else around? |
