Yes, I'm sure that this is always the case. I spent a bit of time in Dusseldorf in the 1970s, and a visit to the Altstadt and some altbier was always much enjoyed. The Schumacher was a bit curious: it came in a swing-top bottle, but was quite highly carbonated, and tasted as if gas had been added. As I say, it was ok but not sensational and I should have said also that it reminded me of kolsch, to which I believe it is fairly closely related. |
