Vegetarian and Vegan DINING options in Bamberg **AND** surrounding?? |

| Might work for vegetarians. Doesn't work for vegans. Most restaurants everywhere are basically minefields for vegans. For Klöß mit Soß ... is the sauce/gravy vegetarian, or made with a meat base? Are the potatoes fried in vegetable oil, butter, or lard? And cheese is also not a choice for vegans. In the USA, there are restaurants in some of the more "progressive" urban areas that cater to vegan demands. In Germany, such places probably have to be sought out, and are bound very limited in number. What works for vegans: FeWo with a kitchen, and either supermarket, bio-laden, or the produce stands in Bamberg's open-air shopping district. Unless the vegan is a fluent German speaker and knows how to ask the right questions, she'd be best off eating at "home" before venturing out, and even then, she'll have to ask if the spent grain is used to feed livestock, right? |
