Don S told me that most of the British ale served in Seattle/Portland was of the keg variety, due to the problems of transport, etc. I think that it is better for pubs/bars to maonly stick with their local brew and serve that well. I'm not so familiar with British pubs nowadays but I noticed in London that you can go into pubs and buy draught Belgium and German beers. But I wonder what experience the people running these places have with these beers? Also, when I go to Bamberg, Bruges and Bath, I want to drink their local offerings and not foreign imports. For that reason, I never ever go into so-called Irish bars outside Ireland - why pay an outrageoius price for an inferior product? |
