| I was in Windischeschenbach last Monday. I had a nice day out from Bamberg' I was careful not to drink any Fässla Pils or smoke beer on the way to the station as the flavorful Bamberg beers might overshadow the more delicate Zoigl beers. I stopped in Weiden for an hour and had a couple beers at Bräu Wirt. Very cool brewery, the beers I felt were very good, tasty but not particularly remarkable. This is a bit of a problem, great beers are everywhere so what stands out? In this case the old town market, brewery, etc. are interesting enough to be worth the trip. I suppose it's really best not to say much about the beer as the experience is very subjective and someone else might be wowed by a beer that I find unremarkable. W'bach is a neat little town. I would like to explore it a bit more and spend more time in the forest and down by the river. At the beginning of May '10 Beim Gloser was open in W'Bach and Schoilmichl in Neuhaus. Beim Gloser's beer is different than what I had been drinking in the region and I will have to look through my pics (perhaps one of the menu) but I thought perhaps they used organic hops? I liked it, very refreshing. Flowery? I do not take notes but rather enjoy the beer and the place. I found a great trail from W'Bach to Neuhaus along the river and up though the trees. It's steep but beautiful and probably less than 30 minutes. I'll post the details of that in a bit. Schoilmichl was fun, the beer garden was open and some friendly merrymakers were out there. It was steamy and warm inside and I was warm from my walk/hike so I stayed outside and cooled off with a couple crisp beers. Good stuff, I was hot and thirsty so the beer was the better for it.
