Some background supplied by Matthia Trum today: "I have introduced a new Christmas beer this year: Schlenkerla Oak Smoke. Its malts are kilned with oak wood instead of beech wood, and hence it has a totally different smoky character than the classic Schlenkerla. It will be served starting next week. Details are on our website at http://www.schlenkerla.de/rauchbier/sorten/schlenkerlaeichee.html. I plan to have this every year around Christmas. In 2009 only on draft, from 2010 onwards (if it is received well by customers) on draft and in bottles." |
