Britain is in the grip of the credit crunch, and sales of home brew kits are increasing. I guess that the beer in Franconia is so prevalent, good quality and at reasonable prices that home brewing may not exist to the same degree as in UK -- people just go the local brewey and buy a crate of bottles. But here are a few questions and home brewing in Franconia/Southern Germany: * Any recommendations for home brew shops or suppliers in Franconia? The Weyermann site lists some suppliers: http://www.weyermann.de/eng/hr.asp?go=detail&idhp=21&umenue=yes&idmenue=42&sprache=2 but I can'y say I've been to any of the places listed. * Do Weyermann in Bamberg have a home brew shop? If so, can anyone confirm opening hours? I visited a couple of years back, but couldn't see any evidence of a shop. * Any friendly breweries in Franconia that would let me have some of their yeast? Maybe I should book a room at Spezial or Faessla and ask around, though my German is pretty poor. * Landbierparadies in Nuremberg -- do they sell home brew kits? Thanks Mike |
