Wheat Beers - Why Bother?

I'm personally not a Weizen drinker. I like it well enough for what it is, but it just ain't my thing. That said, I think Gutmann is one of the best regular Weizenbier(s) around, and it's quite fränkisch. Some fränkische Weizenbier(s) are bland, but so are some from down south; that Münchener Schneider is undrinkably bland IMO. It's just that you have a much greater diversity of Lagerbier in Franken; I suspect some see it as a shame to "waste your liver on Weizen", which you can get elsewhere, when you're in Franken.
